Tracey Marx

Tracey is the creator of Scripture Echo. Her life since 1998 has been intricately woven together with this ministry, and the continually evolving form and format of the Scripture Echo readings and recordings, as well as our other resources.

Tracey feels called to creative faith expression, especially through writing; and to encouraging creative faith expression in others, especially in the realm of worship and spiritual formation. She loves to create in and for community, in ways that can help and make a difference in the lives of others, especially as it might make their faith relevant and important.

Tracey is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., and received her Masters of Divinity (M.Div.) from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1991. She received a B.A. in Religion from Duke University in 1988, and a certificate of completion of the Program in Christian Spiritual Guidance from the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in 2003.

Tracey has worked in pastoral and programmatic ministry within the local church in five congregations in Lancaster County, PA, in the United Methodist and Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) denominations. For twelve years, she taught New Testament Greek on the seminary level, and for five years, worked as a consultant and a group facilitator at a local ministry resource center, working with churches from many different denominations. She currently serves as a chaplain, and is available on a limited basis for spiritual direction, guest preaching and retreat leadership.

Prior to ministry in the church, Tracey was honored to work at Friendship Community, in Lancaster, a residential community serving adults with developmental disabilities, and also with the Oncology Recreation Therapy program of the Duke University Medical Center.

Tracey enjoys poetry, gardening, Tae-Kwon Do, baking muffins, and making soup in the crock pot. She also loves to read novels, watch movies and take very long walks. Her husband Dale, also a Presbyterian minister, is works as an artist and web designer (, and is an integral contributor to Scripture Echo.
